Being elected as a district court judge in 2014 was a culmination of my legal career which has spanned over 26 years. During the last 3 years, I have had the privilege to serve the citizens of Mecklenburg county in virtually all of the district court rooms with the exception of juvenile court.

My experience in family court, criminal court, child support and civil court has been invaluable and has afforded me the opportunity to learn every aspects of the court system. As a treatment court judge, I currently preside over Wellness court and Recovery court and have been at the forefront of the effort to aid those with mental illness and addiction who enter our court system.

For returning citizens, I have assisted in expunging criminal convictions which enables them to reengage into society and become productive citizens. I have also taken great pleasure in mentoring young people in our community who are struggling academically because of issues with truancy. My time with Truancy court developing relationships with children and families who need intervention and assistance have been extremely rewarding.

I view it as an honor and privilege to serve this community and look forward to continuing to serve as your district court judge.
