Alicia Brooks for District Court Judge campaign is looking for interns for the fall of 2018. There are multiple positions available.

Communications Intern 

Job duties include:

–       Primary responsibility for communications strategy implementation and generating press coverage for the campaign
–       Occasionally serving as on the record spokesperson for the candidate
–       Building and maintaining relationships with reporters (traditional and digital)
–       Drafting copy for internal and external communications, including press releases, email blasts, and social media
–       Pitching stories to media outlets
–       Preparing talking points with the campaign team for interviews and press conferences.
–       Planning and executing press conferences and other campaign events
–       Maintaining the campaign’s online presence, including social media and websites

Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:

–       Excellent, fast writer
–       Proficiency with social media platforms
–       Self-starter
–       Some on the record experience
–       1-3 years of experience in political, government or communications positions

Field Intern 

Job duties include:

–       Contact volunteer prospects
–       Organize volunteers to canvass or phone bank
–       Provide logistic support for different volunteer and campaign activities
–       Ensure canvass maps or phone bank lists are available for team
–       Provide tally forms for all volunteers
–       Manage and lead teams of canvassers into city centers and neighborhoods to reach out to new people
–       Train and work with volunteers for phone bank and canvasses
–       Manage data collected
–       Assists with organizing volunteers for volunteer, political and fundraising events.

Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:

–       Ability to maintain a flexible schedule that will include some evening and weekend work.
–       Ability to take initiative, develop ideas and turn them into action.
–       Ability to work effectively both independently and with a team in a fast‐paced, dynamic environment.
–       Must be willing to work flexible hours, including many evenings and weekends
–       Strong interpersonal communication skills

Finance Intern 

Job duties include:

–       Work with team on upkeep and maintenance of campaign database, including donor information and prospective donor research
–       Prep for candidate call time
–       Help to organize and plan campaign events
–       Ensuring event goals are met or exceeded
–       Ability to work long, non-traditional hours as needed
–       Applicant may be asked to perform other campaign-related activities

Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:

–       Applicants must be highly organized and have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced campaign environment
–       A true self-starter who is a detail-oriented team player
–       Excellent written and verbal communication skills
–       Previous campaign experience preferred but not required
–       Proficiency with Microsoft Office required
–       Access to reliable transportation preferable
